Outreach Support Service

The Beacon Outreach Offer

 

We provide preventative support for pupils with Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs or displaying signs of dysregulated behaviour all the first, primary and middle schools in North East Worcestershire. 

 

Aim:

  • To improve the outcomes for vulnerable pupils presenting with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs
  • To support schools in their mission to prevent permanent exclusions
  • To empower colleagues in mainstream schools when dealing with SEMH needs
  • To deliver high quality, therapeutic interventions in a timely manner

 

Our outreach offer includes a package of support including but not limited to:  

  • Pupil visits and reports with recommended next steps and strategies delivered by experienced PRU teachers
  • A six-week intervention programme delivered in your setting for an individual or group
  • 1:1 modelling by a qualified SEMH teacher to staff members 
  • Attending annual reviews and multiagency meetings
  • SEND support meetings, writing IBP’s, Risk assessments, to write reports for the Educational and Health Care Needs Assessment process`
  • PSP support
  • Staff training and CPD
  • Working collaboratively with schools and families
  • Working collaboratively with groups of staff over several sessions to embed new approaches including Senior Management, Teachers, Teaching Assistants and Lunchtime supervisors
  • Solution circles
  • Team building
  • Supporting ECTs with behaviour
  • Bereavement and loss

  • We design/plan our workshops on the needs of the individual pupils but some of the workshops that we offer are:

  • Sense of Self
  • Self-Esteem 
  • Managing and Understanding Emotions
  • Communication Skills
  • Sensory Circuits 
  • Social Stories for difficult situations
  • Social Integration
  • Lego Therapy 

 

To access this support we have a Service Level Agreement for schools.

SLA 2023-2024 

Referral Process

We aim to meet the needs of all schools that require Outreach Support. Please be advised that schools that have an SLA with us will be prioritised.

A basic guide to the referral process is outlined below.

Step 1

  • Either download a referral form from the website or contact The Beacon to request a referral
  • Complete the referral form requesting either outreach support, training or a PRU placement and return to The Beacon

Step 2

  • If outreach support has been requested your form will be processed and actioned as soon as possible
  • If a PRU placement has been requested your form will be submitted to the FAAP (Fair Access and Achievement Panel) in order for a decision to be made as to whether a placement can be offered
